Daily Tasks & Shared Living

When you have a disability you have different needs and living in a shared space while managing everyday tasks can be difficult. But we are here to help you maintain your daily routines. 

How do our caregivers help you manage your daily activities?

  • Helping you live independently and assisting you with tasks such as getting ready, preparing healthy balanced meals and enjoying life with minimal assistance.
  • Encouraging you to live with others and teaching you to cope with your responsibilities at home.
  • Monitoring tasks performed and providing training so you could do basic tasks on your own.
  • Assisting you when you’re finally ready to move out and start living on your own.

Assist-Travel & Transport

Sometimes making it to medical appointments, going shopping, or even visiting a friend can be a struggle because of a disability. 

Currently, First Care Solutions is highly recommended in Victoria for putting client’s safety and comfort first, at all times. All our vehicles have comprehensive insurance and a highly-trained, licensed driver. We intend to increase our client’s independence by training them on effectively using public transport and make their travel journey comfortable.

Our transport service can be scheduled in advance and used for the following needs:

  • Medical appointments
  • Education
  • Work
  • Local shopping
  • Visit areas in your community

Assistance with Personal Activities

We provide you with support for daily activities, including personal and household tasks to live independently in the comfort of your home, as well as in the community. 

Our high-quality, individualised supports can be customized to your own need. We can offer support to you in the following ways:

  • Dressing and getting ready regularly
  • Getting about in the community
  • Helping with preparation of meals
  • Household maintenance and chores
  • Health and fitness guidance
  • Getting in and out of bed
  • Personal hygiene
  • Fixing appointments
  • Travel support

Domestic chores

In a setting where clients are unable to perform vital household tasks due to their limited mobility, you can count on us to step in and help them out. Our goal is to support you maintaining a home which is safer, cleaner and more pleasant. With that in mind, our support workers can assist you with chores in the following areas:

  • Kitchen – Picking up groceries, meal preparation as well as delivery, dishwashing, cleaning cabinets, microwaves, fridges and sinks, wiping countertops and mopping floors
  • Laundry –  Washing, drying, ironing and organising clothes
  • Bathroom – Cleaning floors and toilets
  • Home maintenance – Gardening and landscaping, mopping, dusting and household repairs

Development of Everyday Life Skills

Our staff works closely with our clients making sure they develop skills on the route to becoming more confident in accomplishing their goals. This can enable you to live a better life, where you can meet your own needs.

We can help develop your life skills in the following ways:

  • Helping you learn better personal hygiene and personal care
  • Supporting you in problem-solving, and brainstorming solutions
  • Sharpening interpersonal skills to improve your communication with people 
  • Planning travel routes and navigating using public transport
  • Emotional regulations to help cope with emotions if things are too overwhelming 
  • Teaching you skills to increase the chances of employment

Innovative Community Participation

We have well-trained Community Engagement Practitioners who understand the positive impact of community engagement, social contribution, and relationships, on a person’s wellbeing. 

That’s why participants who access this program can expect a range of support from improving their skills and networking to discovering new opportunities and increasing their ability to look after themselves.

Our innovative community participation services include the following: 

  • Workshops on employment pathways
  • Mentoring to practice self-awareness and self-care
  • Classes to improve personal interests, skillsets and passions
  • Participation in free community events and support to access training 
  • Establishing new social and educational opportunities

Group & Centre-Based Activities

We understand how challenging it can be for someone living with a disability to remain unengaged and to have restricted opportunities for socialisation.

At First Care Solutions, we help you adapt to social situations, build capacity, and improve your well-being through programs designed to initiate social inclusion.

Under the supervision of our experienced health care professionals, we host a range of group and center-based activities throughout Victoria, to suit the needs of our participants, making them feel valued and comfortable within their surroundings. 



Assistance with Social & Community Participation

This funding, which is covered under the Core Supports section of your NDIS plan, helps you improve your ability to participate in recreational activities, and independently pursue your passions.

However, the supports funded need to be deemed as a ‘reasonable and necessary’ to help meet the participant’s goals, as outlined under the disability policies and procedures.

Social and Community Participation funding covers costs incurred from getting to and participating in activities, paying a support worker to assist you and it can also be used to fund a range of activities such as planning your next holiday, attending a rock concert, playing a game or watching a movie.

Therapeutic Supports

We dedicate time to fully understand your individual needs and goals to determine the type of therapeutic support you require. The goal of our staff is to encourage social participation, increase independence and provide high-quality supports. 

Therapeutic supports may include assistance with:

  • Individual counseling including psychosocial assessments, understanding intellectual disability, and problem-solving
  • Assistance with daily tasks, social interactions, and community engagement 
  • Creating diet plans to manage overall health compromised by a disability 
  • Advice on the exercise routines required due to the impact of a disability
  • Helping participants to build daily living skills, social skills, and career skills, whilst developing and maintaining a stream of weekly activities.

Assist Life Stages and Transitions

We fully understand the challenges involved in transitioning to a new stage of life and how it’s especially difficult if you have a disability. 

At First Care Solutions, we specialise in helping clients through life-stage transitions. We can be with you every step of the way as our program includes short and long-term supports, focusing on assistance to live at home, participation, and coordinating supports.

We can support you through life’s transitions in the following ways: 

  • Support connection and better coordination
  • Assistance with accommodation and tenancy obligations
  • Helping with decision making & planning
  • Financial mentoring
  • Support in finding job listings
  • Life planning and goal planning
  • Crisis and conflict resolution

Assistive Products for Personal Care and Safety

At First Care Solution, we ensure you always receive the right equipment and aids because it is a major contributor to independent living. While some products are related to a particular health need, others may help you with everyday tasks.

We cover a broad range of support categories, which include the following:

  • Assistive technology such as bathing aids, walking, and toilet frames, bed levers, stairlifts, etc. to manage personal care and assist with your mobility.

 

  • Home upgrades could minor modifications like adding handrails and stair rails, to more complex works such as ground floor bedroom extensions.

 

  • Improved living arrangements, supervising personal tasks of daily life, provision of wheelchair services, and assist dogs to add some much-needed support, in assisting with daily life.

Accommodation & Tenancy Services

At First Care Solutions, we will help our clients locate a place to live in, assist with the paperwork and even mediate between the client and the landlord. We also offer expertise in case planning, practical one-on-one assistance, communications with service providers, and assessments. 

According to your circumstances and goals, our accommodation and tenancy assistance offerings can include:

  • Supporting participants in developing housing goals
  • Identifying barriers and maintaining at risk tenancies
  • Executing plans to retain existing tenancies
  • Locating other housing options
  • Application for DHHS rentals
  • Helping acquire DHHS Bond Loans
  • Coordinating with utility providers and acquiring Utility Relief Grants
